JV Football defeats Springport to improve to 4-1-1
Boys JV FootballThe JV Team improved to 4-1-1 on the season and remained tied for 1st in the Big 8 with Union City after their 8-6 win over the visiting Spartans of Sprinport.The Spartans scored early in the 1st on a 40-yard scamper, but the 2-point attempt was denied. The teams traded possession until Evan Killinger found Parker Sandecki for a 19-yard scoring strike with 9:16 to play. Killinger connected with Kaleb Regan on the 2-point attempt to take the lead.The defense delivered a strong performance, highlighted by a Sandecki interception at the end of the 2nd quarter, which denied a Spartan score with 21.1 seconds to play at the 10-yard line. Bradley White led the defense with 9 tackles, Evan Lockhart had 8, Noah Glenn had 7, and Tanner Trapp had 5 to lead the defense.The team will host Maple Valley next week as they play their last home game of the 2025 season. Boys JV FootballThe JV Football team traveled to Reading and historic Barr Field in a gridiron clash with the Rangers in week 5.Stockbridge got off to a hot start when Evan Lockhart scored from 48 yards out on the second play from scrimmage. He also converted the 2-point try, and the Panthers led 8-0 early. The defense forced a three-and-out by the Rangers, and the Panthers were back in business on offense. A couple of miscues and a botched fake punt resulted in a turnover on downs, and Reading would engineer a 9-play, 34-yard drive capped off with a 1-yard touchdown run. Their 2-point attempt was also good to knot things up at 8 apiece.The teams would go to the 2nd quarter, and the Panthers would put together a 9-play drive of their own, covering 62 yards, ending when Evan Killinger found Vince Rogozinski for a 16-yard scoring strike. Boys Varsity FootballHomecoming 2025 - What a night to remember!As the kick-off approached, and no officials had shown, an audible was called, giving everyone a night for the ages.When it became apparent that a 7:00 start was not going to happen, school administrators and coaches from both teams worked together to track down enough officials to start the game at 9:30 and provide the best experience for all the students possible. The regular halftime festivities were moved up to 7:30, and the dance started at 8:00, so that the student section would be able to return to the game and cheer its team on to VICTORY!Our boys came out playing inspired football for the home crowd. After a scoreless 1st quarter, the Panthers would find pay dirt when Noah Sandecki connected with Aidan Bradley for a 13-yard and Jayson Conant for a 69-yard scoring strikes on back-to-back possessions. Boys JV FootballThe JV Football team (2-0) hit the road for the 1st time this season as they traveled to Quincy in their league opener against the 2-0 Orioles.The teams went blow for blow in the 1st half as each team scored two touchdowns in the 1st quarter and 1 each in the second to go to halftime tied at 18-18. After some defensive stops, Quincy was able to push one through in the 3rd quarter and convert the 2-point attempt and lead 26-18.The Panthers continued to battle as a team and secured the tying score and 2-point attempt with 5:01 remaining in the 4th quarter on an Evan Lockhart 2-yard run and conversion attempt. Boys JV FootballThe JV Football Team kept things rolling on the young season with a stout defensive effort and some explosive offensive work.The team held the visitors from Centreville to just 6 points with a bend but don't break mentality. Noah Glenn (13 tackles), Collin Stacy (9 tackles), Vince Rogozinski (8 tackles), and Bryson Khozouie (7 tackles) helped to spearhead the defensive front. Parker Sandecki and Dominic Conant each intercepted Centreville passes, and Rogozinski recovered a fumble for the Panthers.The Panther offense rolled to 40 points on 380 yards of offense. Girls Varsity SoccerStockbridge Soccer (SHS) continues to show growth and resilience as they held Quincy, the top-ranked team in the Big 8 Conference, to just two goals in a hard-fought 2-0 loss.Despite facing a high-powered Quincy offense that recorded 28 shots, SHS put in a stellar defensive performance. The Panthers stayed compact, disciplined, and organized for all 90 minutes, frustrating Quincy's attack and limiting quality scoring chances. The defense absorbed pressure and cleared numerous crosses and corners, showing poise under fire.Possession was nearly even, with SHS holding 47.9% of the ball and successfully completing 63 passes. The team also executed 5 free kicks and battled for control in midfield throughout the game. Girls Varsity SoccerMatch 1: In a hard-fought defensive battle, SHS held off a relentless Perry attack that fired 21 shots to SHS's 1. Despite being outshot, SHS stayed composed and organized defensively, forcing the match into a shootout. SHS converted 4 penalties to Perry's 3, securing the win.The match showcased SHS's grit and discipline under pressure, anchored by key defensive stops and a perfect finish in penalties. Match 2: In a tightly contested match, SHS and CSP ended in a 1-1 draw. SHS held strong despite CSP’s higher shot total and passing advantage. The midfield battle was key, with both teams showing moments of control. SHS capitalized on limited attacking opportunities and remained organized defensively, holding CSP to just one goal on 14 shots. 8th Grade Boys Basketball - BIG 8 CHAMPIONS!
Boys Middle School BasketballThe 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team defeated Quincy 45-20 in the Big 8 Championship game on Saturday to improve to 12-0 on the season. The boys played tremendous defense holding Quincy to their lowest point total on the season. The Panthers jumped out to a 25-2 first-quarter lead as they cruised to the win. The team was led by Jonathan Crow's 15 points and Tucker Lott's 10. The team will wrap up the season, on Tuesday December 16th, when Union City visits to make-up a regular season game that had been snowed out. Tip-off will be around 7:00.
